Signee of Academics for Peace petition dismissed
Ramazan Kurt, an academic at the university’s Philosophy and History of Philosophy department, had been detained at his house on Jan. 14 and was sent to court, accused of “terror propaganda”, “incitement to hatred or defaming people” and “defaming the state’s judicial bodies”.

After the court’s decision of rejection of venue, his investigation file was also sent to Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office.

Razaman Kurt slammed the decision of the rectorate, saying it was “unlawful” and “political”.

“Many other academics despite me have abandoned all their academic works and had to stuggle with their own problems. I had no idea that I was dismissed on Jan. 11; I have been still teaching at the faculty. I found out that I have been dismissed, when I failed to log in to my university e-mail account and university automation system” Kurt said.

He urged that he has moved to İzmir where his family live because "he has no condition to continue living in Erzurum, anymore". "I am considering to move to Istanbul” Kurt said, adding that he has been facing administrative inquiry.

More than one thousand international academics have signed a petition denouncing military operations in the southeast and dozens of signees have faced probes, detainments and administrative investigations so far.
