A day-long closure of the West Bank administrative capital Ramallah has ended, the Israeli military said on Monday night.
The restrictions on entering and leaving the city had been announced Sunday evening, after a gun attack near an Israeli settlement, and caused disruption throughout the day.
Apart from housing Palestinian Authority offices, Ramallah attracts commuters from all over the West Bank for work and leisure, many of whom used social media to bemoan the closure.
There was confusion throughout the day with reports of the restrictions being inconsistently applied at various checkpoints surrounding the city.
Palestinian news agency Ma'an reported that thousands of people attended the funeral of the slain policeman, Amjad Sukkari, on Monday.
The "security measures" were put in place after a Palestinian policeman was shot dead in an individual attack on an Israeli settlement near Ramallah, which wounded three Israeli soldiers.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, 167 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since Oct. 1, while 30 Israelis or foreigners have been killed over the same period.
