27 including 11 children killed as boat capsizes in Aegean
Coast guard teams pulled out bodies of 27 refugees when a boat carrying migrants bound for the Greek island of Lesbos capsized off Turkey’s Edremit Bay, in Balıkesir on Feb. 8.

Some 11 children were among these lifeless bodies, including five girls, said Edremit district governor.
Teams rescued four refugees including a woman from the sea. One of these refugees has been hospitalized.
Coast guard teams boosted research in the area, as refugees who have been rescued after the incident said more than 40 people have set sail in the same boat.
Meanwhile, an earlier report of a separate capsizing off İzmir’s Dikili coast in the Aegean on Feb. 8, in which 11 migrants were said to have been killed, has been revealed to be the same incident as the disaster in Edremit.
Three migrants were rescued have said initial reports, off İzmir coast.
